PRODUCTION TITLE: “50 Years”
“50 Years” is a short psychological drama about a man who is forced to make the biggest decision of his life. He must choose to sacrifice himself and die a good man, or take the life of someone else to live longer. This is a thesis film for the School of Visual Arts.
Dave (lead): You’re a middle aged man that has twisted people arms to get your way your entire life. Today, your true character will be shown based off the hardest decision you’ve ever made – The decision to kill a stranger. Will you take the 50 years another man has left on earth so you can live longer?
Guide (lead): You are the guide that takes people to be judged after they die. You are sick of your job. You’ve been doing the same thing so long you can’t remember anymore. You always look disheveled, as if you’re hung over and wear a suit with a loose tie and unbuttoned collar. Your job is to appear on the scene after someone has died and take them to be judged. People seem to have a hard time comprehending they’re dead, and you kill the boredom with sarcastic small talk and making morbid jokes.
Little Girl (age 8-12): You are a cute little girl who is almost hit by a car, but rescued at the last moment.
Businessman: You are an arrogant businessman working in uptown Manhattan, blabbering on your cell phone, oblivious to everyone around you. You are about to die and have no idea.
Little Boy (age 8-15): You are frozen in time. You are mid-dribble with a basketball floating below your hand. You’ve just witnessed a terrible car accident. *Must be able to hold incredibly still for brief amounts of time.
Homeless Man: You are frozen in time. You just witnessed a terrible car accident as you were just about to take a sip of your soup. You sit against a wall under a bridge with your shopping cart of random stuff and a blanket. *Must be able to hold incredibly still for brief amounts of time.
This is a non-pay gig. All expenses (food, travel, etc) will be covered. This film will be shot on the RED Epic.
